"I'm not a Christian because someone taught me about Christianity. But that people were willing to BE the nuts and bolts."- Rich Mullins

OK nuff said...blog post done!

HA! No but really, Rich summed up a true Christian impeccably. I want to walk the walk not talk the talk. When I was approached with this movie I first off SCREAMED with glee as anyone who has known me for eons knows Rich Mullins is the man. His songs have been a huge part of my life as an adolescent and adult. I gave my life over to Christ back in Middle School at Blacklake in Olympia, WA. I was at Summer camp for Campus Life, Youth for Christ. That very night I vowed to live for Jesus I sang his song, Awesome God in front of the entire camp.

I will be honest, most Christian films end up being super cheesy. You get bored partway through or you find yourself mimicking what you just watched. I sat and stared, cried and prayed through this entire movie. I also wanted to cut his hair, make him take a shower and give him some new jeans. BUT this movie was phenomenally made. It takes you through his life as a child, to college and to finding his voice. He created family and broke relationships along the way. But just like they explain in the movie...he was a Ragamuffin. He wasn't perfect, nor did he try to convince you otherwise. Truly he was brilliant. A man gone far too early. I was in awe of his dedication that he gave to the Lord. He had issues. BIG ones. But he led his life for Christ and fought demons along the way.

Rich Mullins was a singer and song writer (Richard Wayne Mullins) who was embraced as modern classics by many Christians. His 3rd album which had Awesome God on it made him even more well known. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Gospel Music Assosiation (GMA) on April 29, 2014.

Rich was selfless. He didn't seek to find fame and fortune. He was devoted and passionate. He lived to serve others. His relationship was strained with his father. He also lived with the loss of his brother. And you can hear and feel the pain as he worked through these moments in his songs.

Rich was the bomb.com and he is one of the many people I cannot wait to meet in heaven. Here is a preview of the movie:
