A kitchen filled with Sapori di Casa

9:51:00 PM

We have this running joke in my household. You see my husband leaves for work SUPER early in the morning, which is actually an incredible thing as he is home late afternoon. Because of this he is always ravenously hungry and tells me how he dreams of me having dinner on the table by 4:00. Just ONE day! I laugh at him. Roll my eyes and say "eat an apple", we are NOT hungry by then!

My husband is also 1/2 Italian. Being he is 1/2 Italian I SWEAR they are just automatically born with the genetics of knowing what GOOD food tastes like. I know, we all can taste good food. But I mean, like, authentic. REAL. Home cooked goodness. Enter Sapori di Casa.

Sapori di Casa is a locally owned authentically Italian company. Husband is from Italy. Wife meets husband in Italy. They move to America. Start a gorgeous family. Teach classes on how to make amazing food and then BAM open up shop to share their taste of Italy with the world. I was RAISED on authentic Italian food. I was sang to sleep by the most incredible woman named Lucia who would draw a face on her thumb, wrap a hanky around it and sing me Thumbelina in Italian to fall asleep. I learned how to curse using hand gestures by the ripe ol' age of 8! And I remember the sitting around the Piccolo's table and it being covered with food that was prepared and cooked all day long with love. That is just what Duccio and Jennifer make. Jars of love.

Here are a few EASY recipes I love to make using my Sapori di Casa sauces.

Minestrone Soup

1 small onion, chopped
4 cloves minced garlic
2 Tbsp olive oil (or small pancake if you don't like to measure!)
32 oz Chicken Broth
1 jar Sapori di Casa sauce (truly I love them all, but used Pomodoro e Basilico)
1 can Kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
1 package frozen vegetables (I used the one with corn, green beans and carrots)
3 celery stalks sliced
1 cup Ditalini pasta, uncooked

Are you ready for this? Saute the onion and garlic in olive oil. When translucent in color add in everything else. Bring it to a boil and let it cook 10-15 minutes *until pasta is al dente! Before serving top with freshly grated parmesan and serve with a nice crusty bread. This is a household favorite!

Chicken Pasta Bake

1 box ziti pasta
1 package mushrooms, quartered
1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs (I think they are juicier and hold in more flavor!)
Italian seasoning, garlic salt and onion powder (to taste)
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 package swiss cheese

Preheat oven to 350. Boil ziti noodles until al dente. While noodles are boiling, cook chicken in olive oil and season with italian seasoning, garlic salt and onion powder. This is REALLY hard...(I kid) using the palm of your hand I dump in a quarter sized amount of the garlic salt and onion powder. Sprinkle on the chicken. I then do two palms of italian seasoning that I rub together in my hands over the chicken (so basically I am making a fine powder of the dried seasonings over the chicken). When the chicken is cooked through I slice and then add the mushrooms and sauce to the pan. Simmer together for about 10 minutes. Combine all ingredients together and place in a baking dish. You will then top with swiss cheese (I layer so they overlap). Bake for 30 minutes and serve with toasted french bread with butter and garlic sea salt.
