It's been awhile. I have been out of sorts with adjustments and birthdays and in full on selfishness of spending time with my kids. But when I was asked to read the new book by Max Davis called 'When Jesus was a Green Eyed Brunette' somethin' about the name y'all...jumped right out at me! Did you know having green eyes is more rare? I had a gentleman at a gathering stop me one time and say "You have the most stunning green eyes!" I looked at him, put my hand on his shoulder and said, "Boy if I weren't married I would have kissed you! No one ever notices I have green eyes!"
As Max Davis heard "THE voice" tell him he would one day become a writer. I too heard "THE voice" say...this book is gonna feed into your soul! I am pretty sure I responded over emphatically!
The thing is...we pass by Jesus every day. But most of us just walk on by. Not even realizing or taking the time to glance up from our smartphones and look to see the person within. God utilizes individuals on the regular to step into your life and speak to your soul. We were all formed in HIS likeness. In HIS image. Therefore we are to reflect that of Jesus. I love how my buddy Max (yup, sorry Max...you didn't know that but we are TOTALLY on a first name basis now!) said, "Jesus is an actual living being. He is God. We don't have to work at making ourselves holy. We could never do that. Our job is to get out of the way and let Him live through us. Authentic Christianity is all about a relationship. A relationship with Jesus that transforms a person."
Let's just say that he has an incredible way of turning words into perfectly formed visual pictures within your mind. I couldn't put this dang book down. In fact I loved it so much I was texting my BFF telling her to expect some mail from me soon cause I just finished a book she totally needs to read! Y'all, it doesn't disappoint! "As Christ followers, we want to be distinct individuals with the character of Jesus flowing out of us. It's a process that will never be ultimately complete until this life is over. This is one of the main differences between man-made religion and authentic Christianity." He describes a few of the hardships he went through. Has chapter names like "Iron Butts and Journalism" or "Orange Jumpsuits and Old Typewriters" he is funny, relatable and added to my list of must read authors!
And because ol' Max'aroonie is a "friend" I get to give away a book to one lucky duck reader! Fuh-real you are going to love it!
